Pinellas Academy of Math and Science Announcement
Clearwater, FL, December 21, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Pinellas Academy of Math and Science announced Wednesday, December 19, 2018 the successful closing by BB&T Capital Markets for a $17,680,000 Series 2018A (tax-exempt) and $210,000 Series 2018B (taxable) fixed rate bond transaction for Advantage Academy of Pinellas, Inc. The transaction was considered investment grade by Moody’s Rating Services as a result of the Baa3 rating.
The bond transaction financed the acquisition of the Pinellas Academy of Math and Science campus by its charter holder, Advantage Academy of Pinellas, Inc. The campus facilities include 56,060 square feet of classroom, laboratory, athletic and administrative space with an enrollment capacity of 910 students in grades K-8. The bond proceeds also financed a debt service reserve fund.
Advantage Academy of Pinellas, Inc., a Florida not-for-profit corporation, was organized in July 2010 as the charter holder for Pinellas Academy of Math and Science (PAMS). PAMS opened August 2012 and has steadily grown to its current enrollment of 808 students. PAMS is a Science Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (S.T.E.A.M.) focused school.
PAMS is managed by Charter School Associates, Inc., (CSA) one of Florida’s largest private operators of public charter schools. CSA manages twenty-three Florida-based public charter schools serving approximately 13,000 students. CSA and BB&T Capital Markets worked together in November 2017 to successfully close an $18,500,000 bond financed transaction to facilitate the acquisition of the Viera Charter School located in Viera, Florida on behalf of its not-for-profit governing board.
