Crown Award Nominees Announced for Best Hairstyles of Year
Super-Hair.Net announced this year's Crown Award nominees Thursday night. Voting for the best hairstyles of the year will open Sunday.
Newport, KY, January 05, 2019 --(PR.com)-- One is a movie "Avenger." One is a singer who's turned toward gospel music. And one presides over a football "Countdown." Now all three have three nominations for their hairstyles.
Karen Gillan, Tori Kelly and Samantha Ponder lead this year's list of candidates for "Crown Awards" from the celebrity hair website Super-Hair.Net. The names were announced during a live "Nomination Night" webchat Thursday night, and open voting for the winners will begin Sunday (U.S. time).
"Gillan won two awards for Best Redhead earlier in the decade," said the webmaster of Super-Hair.Net. "Then she became a star in Avengers movies, and that's given her more attention from our Hair Fans." The Australian is nominated for Makeover of the Year and Best Ponytail, in addition to Best Redhead.
Kelly is as famous for her mass of curls as her soulful songs. She's a contender not only for Best Curls, but Best Hairstyle in Music and Best Blonde. But her blonde competition will include ESPN Sunday NFL Countdown host Ponder, who won that category two of the last three years.
Ponder is also a candidate for Best Hairstyle in Sports Reporting, as well as the top-level prize Best Long Hair. Her challengers there will be Dutch blogger Stephanie Abu-Sbieh, singer Camila Cabello, CNN anchor Ana Cabrera and Armenian long-hair model Gohar Shahnazaryan. Shahnazaryan won that award last year.
Several women received two Crown nominations. They include Quantico star Priyanka Chopra, Suits actress Sarah Rafferty and WWE wrestler Becky Lynch. One unusual category is Best Hairstyle in a Movie, where both Sharon Horgan and Rachel McAdams have nominations for the comedy-mystery Game Night.
Online voting for Crown Award winners will expand this year. Not only will three ballots be rotated on the Super-Hair.Net website, but the new category "Best Silver Hair" will utilize polls on the Super-Hair Twitter feed. All the Crowns are scheduled to be presented Sunday, March 10.
The full list of nominees can be reviewed on the Super-Hair website.
