Seven Hotel and Elephant Gin Afternoon Tea with Sheldrick Wildlife Trust - Southend-on-Sea
Southend-on-Sea, United Kingdom, February 12, 2019 --(PR.com)-- “The question is, are we happy to suppose that our grandchildren may never be able to see an elephant except in a picture book?”
- David Attenborough
The Seven Hotel is proud to announce, in conjunction with the amazing Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Elephant Gin, an exciting new Afternoon Tea project in aid of the protection and preservation of the noble African elephant.
Born from one family’s passion for Kenya and its wilderness, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is today the most successful orphan-elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world and one of the pioneering conservation organisations for wildlife and habitat protection in East Africa. At the heart of the Trust’s conservation activities is the Orphans’ Project, which has achieved world-wide acclaim through its hugely successful elephant and rhino rescue and rehabilitation program. The Orphans’ Project exists to offer hope for the future of Kenya’s threatened elephant and rhino populations as they struggle against the threat of poaching for their ivory and horn, and the loss of habitat due to human population pressures and conflict, deforestation and drought. To date the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has successfully hand-raised over 230 infant elephants, with more than 140 already returned to the wild, many now with wild babies of their own.
The founders of Elephant Gin were similarly inspired, after their own adventures in Africa, to create a gin with a vision to conserve the wildlife they felt so passionately for. With every full size bottle sold, Elephant Gin contributes 15% of profits to Big Life Foundation and Space for Elephants, while for each miniature bottle sold, 15% of profits is donated to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. All of these organisations are devoted to the conservation of the African elephant. While its story started in South Africa, Elephant Gin is handmade in Germany with a focus on highest quality production standards. All ingredients are hand-selected, bottles custom-made, labels hand-written and production efforts controlled by working in small batches. Elephant Gin is distilled using 14 botanicals, including rare African ingredients.
Working closely with the people at Elephant Gin, The Seven Hotel has developed a unique afternoon tea to reflect our passion for this noble cause. They will donate £1.50 from each afternoon tea to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, meaning you can indulge yourself guilt-free knowing you are helping to save one of the planet’s most iconic animals. They are also offering a range of original cocktails, created and developed by Elephant Gin, including the intriguing Oasentrunk and the exciting Cranberry Ginger Smash.
The Elephant Gin Afternoon Tea will tempt you with new twists on their English traditions, including Elephant Gin jam, chocolate and lavender mousse and apple and elderflower cheesecake with a gin and tonic pipette. All the traditional sandwiches and scones will be present to ensure your complete enjoyment for this worthy cause. They will even finish the experience with a very special Elephant Gin gift for very customer to show their appreciation. The gifts have kindly been donated by Elephant Gin and The English Tea Shop, their supplier for the delicious range of teas at the hotel. Since 2010, The English Tea Shop has sourced the best tea from the heart of Sri Lanka, and the best farms in the world. They are sustainable and hand packed to reduce the carbon footprint.
The Elephant Gin Afternoon Tea will begin at Aurum Restaurant at The Seven Hotel from 1st March 2019 and will be available until 30th March 2019. The price will be £24.00 per person.
