MyMy Music Adds Veteran Music Industry Executive as Head of Hip Hop and R&B
Streaming Music Platform Pushing Independent Artist Discovery
Atlanta, GA, February 18, 2019 --(PR.com)-- MyMy Music, the streaming music platform which allows listeners to discover and help promote independent artists, has hired music industry executive JoJo Brim as Head of Hip Hop and R&B. In his role with MyMy Music, Brim will work directly with emerging independent artists to help them optimize their digital profile and increase fan engagement.
In 2017, MyMy Music launched its first genre-branded platform, MyMy Hip Hop, with future plans to expand to other genres. MyMy Hip Hop is the first streaming platform to utilize “blind judging,” a patent-pending algorithm which enables listeners to critique the music, creating a true community around the art. On MyMy, artists are valued for their talent – not their social media reach – and according to the artists themselves, statistics from the site prove it works. The community of promoters and fans that have embraced the platform are driving spins for performers at a rate that is outpacing some of the biggest music resources on the internet.
“Traffic on the platform is strong and growing,” said CEO Shawn Pouliotte. “We have created a community where listeners continue to shape the catalog rather than just mimicking what is already tracking on Billboard. We give artists a powerful roadmap for success.”
Brim’s two decades of Hip-Hop and R&B experience in an A&R role lifts the ceiling for grass roots independent artists using the platform. Now at the point for the fast-growing platform, Brim recognizes an opportunity for emerging artists to get their music heard. “I’ve spent the better part of my career with record labels producing, signing and managing talent, and there’s just no way labels or managers can hear everything. This platform allows listeners to judge tracks, and the best music comes out on top every day.”
Brim brings a long track record of A&R and Artist Management experience to MyMy Music, including stints at Island Def Jam Music Group, Atlantic Records LaFace Records, and KWL Management supporting a long list of talented artists, including Trey Songz, Big Sean, PNB Rock, Elle Varner, Musiq Souldchild, Case, LL Cool J, and London on da Track, to name a few. In addition to his role at MyMy Music, Jojo maintains his position as CVO of Playbook Entertainment where he works closely with the newly relaunched Arista Records.
“We’re coupling our platform’s ability to find the best independent artists, with JoJo’s ability to coach them to success,” added Pouliotte.
About MyMy Music
MyMy Music is a streaming music platform founded with the goal of helping emerging artists gain exposure. The application is focused on Music Discovery in a way that is new to the industry. The company embraces crowd opinion as part of the listening process. The patent-pending algorithm uses a random blind-judging process that ensures there is no bias and the outcome of judging can’t be gamed. Listeners vote based on emotion rather than association. After sufficient judging of a track, it is scored and either promoted or failed based on the crowd opinion. This method of curation has proven highly successful in capturing a large audience sentiment about a track or artist across a global audience and can then further segment that information into more granular buckets such as gender or geolocation. MyMy Music will be deploying its blind judging algorithm to other genres in the upcoming month.
