MedAware Systems to Present New Research at the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Neurology

Broomfield, CO, February 21, 2019 --(PR.com)-- MedAware Systems, Inc. announced today that its new research paper, entitled Literature Bias in Alzheimer's Disease Research: An Exploration of Factors Influencing Treatment Outcomes has been selected for presentation at the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). The Meeting is being held in Philadelphia, PA, May 4 – 10, 2019.

AAN is the professional medical organization for Neurology, with over 36,000 members. Its mission is to advance the art and science of neurology, and thereby promote the best possible care for patients with neurological disorders. The AAN publishes Neurology, a biweekly peer-reviewed medical journal covering research in neurology. It is one of the premier medical journals in the field.

This new meta-analysis is authored by Travis Spear MS, Kate Yzquierdo MBA, Anna Ivashchenko MPH, and Zung Vu Tran, PhD.

The team screened over 380 studies, and thousands of data points already extracted and instantly available through MedAware Systems’ comprehensive Dementia research database, to uncover a significant bias in the published Alzheimer’s research literature. More specifically, the research found that Industry funded studies reported significantly larger treatment effects when compared to government and foundation/non-profit funded studies.

“The conclusion to be drawn from this massive research effort is that sources of funding may be an important factor to consider when reviewing published medical literature in Alzhiemer's Disease,” said William Kent, the Company’s President and COO.
