Four Atlanta Festival Academy Students to be Awarded Scholarships to HARPA International Music Academy in Iceland

Alpharetta, GA, February 27, 2019 --(PR.com)-- The Atlanta Festival Academy (AFA) announced that four of their students will have a rare opportunity to greatly enhance their quartet playing skills with a scholarship to the Harpa International Music Academy (HIMA) in Iceland in August 2019. The full tuition scholarships are offered through a partnership between the AFA and HIMA.

The scholarships will provide tuition to four select AFA students to attend the HIMA Intensive String Quartet seminar from August 1 through 6, 2019. Students will learn under the guidance of Mr. Sibbi Bernhardsson, who is one of the most successful string quartet violinists in the world today. Mr. Bernhardsson is the current violin professor at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and former member of the world-renowned Pacifica String Quartet.

Students who are selected to participate in the HIMA string quartet seminar will receive daily quartet rehearsals and individual practice sessions, 90 minutes of daily master class, and 60 minutes of daily coaching. To be eligible for the full tuition scholarship for the HIMA string quartet seminar, students must be registered to attend the nine-day, AFA classical music festival from July 22 through 30, 2019, in Sandy Springs, Georgia. The AFA will accept strings students from ages 10 to 23 years old. The AFA consists of a summer institute with master classes, lectures, workshops and private lessons, and chamber and orchestra coaching from world renowned teachers. Additionally, two concerts will be held that bring together students and faculty from around the world.
