A big privacy concern with per-mile insurance are the devices that are used to calculate mileage. Unlike its competitors, Mile Auto does not track people’s driving using a smartphone app or devices that plug directly into the insured car. Instead, policyholders will receive a text asking for their odometer reading. They can respond with a picture of their odometer and Mile Auto calculates the distance and bill accordingly.
