AMITY condemns the heinous terrorist attacks on two New Zealand Mosques. They urge the Muslim community to remain calm and resist any provocation which will only serve the interests of the terrorists who wish to cause hate and division within the larger Muslim community. AMITY expresses its deep sympathy and stands in solidarity with the people, government and Muslim community of New Zealand, offering its heartfelt condolences to the families of the innocent who were killed.
Upper Darby, PA, March 18, 2019 --(PR.com)-- AMITY has issued the following press release pertaining to the sad and heinous incident in New Zealand:
"We are deeply shocked to receive news of the callous terrorist attack which targeted people praying in two-mosques in New Zealand, Friday the 15th of March 2019.
It has been reported that numerous people were killed in a mass shooting, when an armed gunman opened fire during the Friday congregational prayer at two locations in the city of Christchurch.
According to police reports, three men and a woman have been taken into police custody, along with the discovery of explosives attached to a number of vehicles.
We strongly condemn these heinous acts of violence which only serve to cause division and disunity and disrupt the safety and security of the country. We hope that the New Zealand authorities will swiftly apprehend any remaining terrorist criminals who remain at large so they can receive the punishment that they deserve.
We also urge the Muslim community in the United States to remain vigilant and to fully cooperate with Police and authorities during their investigations.
We also advise them to remain calm and resist any provocation which will only serve the interests of the terrorists who wish to cause hate and division within the larger Muslim community.
AMITY expresses its deep sympathy and stands in solidarity with the people, government and Muslim community of New Zealand, offering its heartfelt condolences to the families of the innocent who were killed, and wishes the injured a speedy recovery.
AMITY strives to implement the teachings of Islam as per the guidance of the Qur'an and as practiced by those who adhere to the methodology of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. Our center is open for all members of the community during these difficult times."
