Author of, "Do Animals Think?", Says Animals Not Conscious and Possess Only Limited Emotional Intelligence
Interview with animal behavior expert, and author, Dr. Clive Wynne. Discussion highlights differences between hard-core skeptics and scientists advocating the ethical treatment of animals.
Del Mar, CA, March 28, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Join host Alex Tsakiris when he interviews Dr. Clive Wynne about animal behavior research, our tendency to anthropomorphize animal behavior, and whether animal communication is an illusion. During the 35-minute interview Dr. Wynne refutes the claim of Dr. Stanley Coren that dogs are as intelligent as a 2-year-old child, and explains why impressive displays of animal intelligence shouldn’t lead us to conclude animals are consciousness:
“… to me, consciousness is inevitability linked to language. I see there are problems with that viewpoint. I see this as just a tentative intellectual resting place… therefore, since I’m convinced that no other species has language, I don’t think other species can be said to be conscious in the way we are”
Dr. Wynne also reviews the evidence for telepathy in dogs as reported by Dr. Rupert Sheldrake. He remains unconvinced, and offers to test dogs demonstrating telepathic capabilities at his canine behavior lab in Gainesville Florida. Dr. Clive Wynne is Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Florida, and author of, Do Animals Think? He also directs the Canine Cognition & Behavior Lab in Gainesville, Florida.
