MyEyeDr. Raises More Than $17,000 for Children’s National Hospital
D.C. area optometry offices support Make March Matter to improve healthcare access for children.
Vienna, VA, April 07, 2019 --(PR.com)-- As part of the Make March Matter campaign, 69 MyEyeDr. offices in the Washington, D.C., metro-area donated $1 for every retinal photo taken in March, raising a total of $17,526 for Children’s National Hospital.
The annual Make March Matter initiative invites members of the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia communities to support their favorite businesses and raise funds for the 230,000 kids cared for by Children’s National Hospital each year. Proceeds from the campaign help ensure every child, regardless of illness, injury or ability to pay, has the opportunity to receive exceptional care.
“We are committed to partners like Children’s National Hospital and our patients are extremely receptive to the cause, enabling us to grow our support in 2019. Thank you to the 17,526 patients that opted to have a retinal exam in March,” said Sue Downes, CEO of MyEyeDr. “Not only did this initiative support children in need, but also encouraged our patients to take a proactive approach to their eye health.”
Retinal imaging creates a digital image of the retina, blood vessels and optic nerve located at the back of the eye, providing optometrists with a clear picture that can help assist with early diagnosis of systemic health problems by showing changes within the structure of the eyes.
