Author and Speaker Chriselda Barretto Releases First Book in Her Series Investigating Aviation Safety
Based on a true story, “Aviation Stories 1: Dying to Fly” digs into the unglamorous and unspoken side of the world of aviation.
Brussels, Belgium, April 08, 2019 --(PR.com)-- After nearly 20 years in the aviation industry, with most of that time spent as a Safety Training Instructor, Chriselda Barretto releases her first non-fiction novel exposing the unknown ramifications of flying for both crew and passengers. In “Aviation Stories 1: Dying to Fly,” readers follow Ellen Sanders, a senior flight attendant, as she navigates through the journey of her illness: “Aerotoxic Syndrome.” An entire series is planned around the subject.
When asked about her inspiration to write about such matters, the author states, “I was approached by an ex-colleague to be part of an online group on Facebook dealing with the ill health effects of cabin air on cabin crew and passengers, after so-called “fume events.” I decided to at least take a look into it because I still had so many friends working in aviation. I had been suggested by my ex-students, because of the respect and authority they thought I had on the topic of aviation safety. I was honored and decided to take up the challenge and started researching into it. What I discovered shocked me!”
To help get the word out, Barretto launched the “SHIFT” movement (Sharing Helpful Information For Tomorrow), an effort through social media channels where community members share stories with each other and to help expose existent bias in the community.
The response to her debut novel has been overwhelming. Paige Lovitt, of Reader Views shared, “I enjoyed the way the author delivers this message in a dramatic suspense-like read, entertaining readers with a captivating story while educating the public.”
