Mona Clayton, RN, Continues to Empower Future 100,000 Nurses "Speed Huddle™" Mentoring Concept to Launch at Upcoming Mixer
Los Angeles, CA, April 12, 2019 --(PR.com)-- With the need for a new way to attract students and fulfill the goal of recruiting 100,000 future nurses, an innovative concept called “Speed Huddle™” will launch in April 2019 to help match students with professional mentors at an upcoming “mix & mentor emPOWER hour™” in Long Beach, California. The goal of this event is to bring focus on the importance of mentoring students and to match professionals with students and individuals interested in a career in nursing- a way to revolutionize nursing and to sway away from how recruiting future nurses were done in the past.
“Speed Huddle” will help for building the nursing community through mentorship. “Mentorship is the ideal way to capture more students and to help struggling nursing students to become more successful,” according to Mona Clayton, RN, MSN and CEO of The Nurses Pub.
“Growing up in South Central LA, no one ever told me about the nursing profession. In fact, I was encouraged to set my sights on being the secretary. But if not for the nurses that mentored me, where would I be?,” states Nurse Clayton.
Nurse Mona Clayton discovered in 2007, that there was a strong need for students wanting to become nurses to have quality mentors, seminars, workshops and guidance to help discover their passions. A single mom, while attending LA Southwest College and working at Martin Luther King Hospital in South Central Los Angeles as a registration clerk was difficult for Clayton, but it was the mentors and the examples of the nurses working the King Hospital trauma emergency room that pushed her to overcome obstacles to become a successful nurse and author of “Surviving the Journey as Painlessly as Possible” as well as CEO of The Nurses Pub.
The campaign to attract and assist 100,000 future nurses from Los Angeles and other lower socioeconomic communities has spread throughout the country and even to places like Ghana, Nigeria and Jamaica.
Ms. Clayton and The Nurses Pub are edging closer to their goal of outreaching to 100,000 for mentoring and attracting students to the nursing workforce. The Nurses Pub hosts seminars and workshops throughout Los Angeles, South Central LA and other areas to continue promoting what Ms. Clayton deems the most lucrative profession in the world.
The Mix & Mentor emPOWER hour will be held at The Total Wine & More. Food & Wine served. Guests must be 21 and over to attend.
