MITA Commends Introduction of Medical Device Repeal Bill in the House of Representatives

Washington, DC, April 10, 2019 --(PR.com)-- The Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) today issued the following statement commending the introduction of a bipartisan bill by Representatives Ron Kind (D-WI) and Jackie Walorski (R-IN) to permanently repeal the medical device tax:

“I commend Representatives Kind and Walorski for introducing H.R. 2207, The Protect Medical Innovation Act of 2019, and for taking a stand to safeguard American medical innovation and ensure patients can continue to access the latest generation of medical imaging technology,” said Dennis Durmis, Chair of MITA’s Board of Directors. “Repealing the medical device tax is a bipartisan objective that will protect American jobs, grow our economy and ensure the medical device industry can adequately invest in research and development. I urge Congress to pass this legislation without delay.”

The bill currently has 227 co-sponsors from both parties. A companion bill, the Protect Medical Innovation Act (S.692), was introduced in the Senate last month with significant bipartisan support.
