National Roundtable on America’s Economic Condition Scheduled for April 10, 2008

Technological Innovation Crucial to Future American Economic Prosperity.

Raleigh, NC, March 29, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Citing the national economic decline as evidence of deeper structural economic problems in the American economy, the Capital Formation Institute, an economic think-tank, is sponsoring a national call-in roundtable on April 10, 2008, to discuss why innovation economics is the nation’s only long-term viable solution.

“We are not going to solve the economic problems in America with a $600 tax rebate,” said Dan Loague, the Executive Director of the Capital Formation Institute. “Our analysis of the issues indicates that a sustained commitment to innovation economic development in each metro region of the country is America’s last best hope for global economic comparative advantage.”

In response to the economic conditions in the country, Loague organized a national roundtable discussion, The New Reality of Innovation Economics (http://cfi-institute.org/Roundtable/RT_IE_promo.html).

“We believe that the primary economic activity in the country should be new venture creation in the nine high technology industrial value chains that exist in each metro region,” said Loague. “Our roundtable is designed to bring together sources of venture capital, professional economic developers and technology commercialization agencies to begin formulating a new approach to economic growth.”

The roundtable discussion will be moderated by Loague, and two innovation economic experts, Ed Morrison, Executive Director of the Institute for Open Economic Networks, located in Cleveland, OH., and Thomas Vass, President of The Private Capital Market,® Inc. of Raleigh, NC., and author of Predicting Technology: Identifying Future Market Opportunities and Disruptive Technologies. (2007).

The roundtable will address the critical issues of using innovation to drive an effective economic development strategy. Among the many controversial questions raised by the Moderators, two stand out:
· “Why, if innovation economics is such a great idea, has the adoption and use of this tool of economic development been so slow” and
· “Does the traditional economic development model retard development of regional economic innovation?”

Participants in the CFI Roundtable will be invited to join the discussion and contribute to the evolving approach to building globally competitive community and regional economics. Attendance in the free roundtable will be limited, and pre-registration is advised for those with an interest in participating.
