SNAG Announces 2020 Conference Call for Proposals Details
The 2020 Conference Program Committee (CPC) is seeking proposals under the theme “Grit to Gold: Future Fifty,” including presentation topics that focus on the future of SNAG; the field as a whole; and the makers, educators, curators, writers and students that are expanding concepts, critical discourse, and technical aspects of the field.
Eugene, OR, April 25, 2019 --(PR.com)-- The Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) 2020 conference, “Grit to Gold: Future Fifty,” will mark another historic milestone: The 50th Anniversary of SNAG’s first conference. Since the original group of smiths came together at the organization’s first conference in 1970, the impact continues to resonate in the organization as SNAG works to positively influence and enhance the livelihood of its large membership. While the 2019 Conference in Chicago celebrates SNAG’s 50th birthday and reflected on the last fifty years, in 2020 they will turn their focus to the future.
The theme of SNAG’s 2020 conference symbolizes the host city of Philadelphia and the fields of metalsmithing and jewelry, both of which are constantly evolving with the times and continuously reinventing themselves. “Grit” can be interpreted as toughness characteristic of many cities in the Northeast that often yield “golden” results. Along with presentations that look forward and explore the challenges and opportunities ahead, the conference will emphasize space for critical discourse, different concepts and ideas, and technical presentations that speak to current questions and issues in the field.
The conference will take place May 20 – 23, 2020 at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel.
