Founded by Theodore Selby as a materials-consulting firm with an emphasis on lubrication, Savant Labs evolved from a one-man show with one room and one piece of equipment in 1969 to a multi-thousand square feet facility, with a vast assortment of lubrication testing equipment and a crew of dedicated chemists, technicians and customer service personnel today.

With Ted Selby as the founder, an impressive 50 U.S. patents for lubricant test methods and high precision test instruments with over 250 related technical papers, adds to the depth of understanding and service to the industry.
