ReproTech Nevada Participates in Fundraising Event to Support Women with Cancer
Reno, NV, May 19, 2019 --(PR.com)-- ReproTech, Ltd., a cryobank specializing in long-term storage of human reproductive tissue (sperm, eggs, embryos and ovarian and testicular tissue), was proud to sponsor the entire staff of the ReproTech Nevada office who participated in Moms on the Run, a fitness organization that raises money to assist women who are battling breast or gynecological cancers. The event, held on Mother’s Day, 05/12/19, had over 775 participants with donations going to women with cancer in the Northern Nevada area to help pay for daily living costs including mortgages/rent, food, utilities and other expenses.
ReproTech is committed to initiatives that support people who are dealing with cancer and it is a priority to sponsor and contribute to cancer fundraising events in the areas where its employees and four regional facilities reside, Ft. Lauderdale/Coconut Creek, Florida; Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota; Reno, Nevada; and Dallas/Garland, Texas.
According to the American Cancer Society, in 2019, it is estimated that 145,000 American men and women under the age of 45 will be diagnosed with cancer. Also, according to CureSearch for Children’s Cancer, a non-profit that funds children’s cancer research, there are approximately 375,000 adult survivors of children’s cancer in the United States. A large portion of children who survive cancer suffer effects later in life, including infertility. Once diagnosed, there is a small window of time for patients to preserve their fertility; therefore, timely access to cryopreservation services is essential. ReproTech, Ltd. has organized its Fertility Preservation Network to educate oncology professionals and caretakers so that referrals for cryopreservation services are part of the conversation for newly diagnosed patients and their families. The Fertility Preservation Network connects patients to freezing centers and now includes member clinics in 36 states. Additionally, ReproTech partners with LIVESTRONG Fertility which works to educate the oncology community on the importance of Fertility Preservation and offers financial assistance to patients who want to pursue cryopreservation of their reproductive specimens.
