Kennedy Berg LLP Wins Multi-Million Dollar Verdict in New York Supreme Court and CEO Claire Gruppo is Sentenced to 30 Days in Jail for Contempt

Kennedy Berg LLP won a trial verdict in New York Supreme Court on behalf of Pensmore Invesments, LLC against investment banking advisors Gruppo, Levey & Co. and its officers for breach of contract. CEO Claire Gruppo was sentenced to 30 days in jail for multiple violations of court orders and lying on the witness stand.

New York, NY, May 20, 2019 --(PR.com)-- On Tuesday, May 14, 2019, New York Supreme Court Justice Jennifer Schecter held investment bankers Claire Gruppo, Hugh Levey, and the companies and trusts they control, that were defendants in this case, liable for more than $4 million for their role in diverting funds from the Gruppo-Levey companies to themselves in an effort to avoid repaying a debt owed to Pensmore Investments, LLC. In addition, Justice Schecter sentenced CEO Claire Gruppo to 30 days imprisonment, citing her violations of prior court orders, "Gruppo outright lied under oath," and "willfully disobeyed this court's lawful mandate."
