New State Society Assembled for Nevada Dermatologists
Solutions for Association Management, Inc. Recruited to Manage Operations and Increase Membership
Reno, NV, May 22, 2019 --(PR.com)-- The Nevada Society for Dermatology & Dermatologic Surgery (NSDDS) is pleased to announce it is the first state-focused incorporated organization established to grow the practice of dermatology and dermatologic surgery in the state of Nevada. NSDDS has chosen Solutions for Association Management, Inc. (SAMI) to manage its activities, membership and day-to-day operation.
NSDDS was founded in 2018 to fill a void in the state of Nevada for an organization dedicated to promoting the educational and professional interests of dermatologists and dermatologic surgeons; providing a vehicle for advocacy and public educational efforts on behalf of dermatologists, dermatologic surgeons and their patients; and addressing socioeconomic issues that impact the practice of dermatology and dermatologic surgery in the state of Nevada.
“I’m thrilled to help form and lead this new organization that truly is the missing piece to dermatology representation in the state of Nevada,” said NSDDS President and Founding Member Whitney Hovenic, MD. “We look forward to connecting dermatologists and their staff with one another to advocate on behalf of the profession and offering them continuing education opportunities. I encourage all dermatologists, licensed clinical staff, residents and medical students to apply for membership and contribute to the NSDDS Development Fund to support our growing Society.”
The NSDDS Development Fund was established in 2018 by the Skin Cancer and Dermatology Institute in Reno, Nevada, to ensure the formation, growth and success of NSDDS. Donations to the fund directly support the areas of administration, advocacy and website development. Individual and corporate donors are encouraged to contribute to the fund at http://bit.ly/NSDDSFund.
The NSDDS Board of Directors includes:
• President – Whitney Hovenic, MD
• Vice President – Doug Fife, MD
• Secretary – Jennifer DePry, MD
• Treasurer – H.L. Greenberg, MD
• Director-at-Large – Lenore Kakita, MD
• Director-at-Large – John Staidle, MD
NSDDS will be looking to the newly formed membership to select the final Director-at-Large position.
NSDDS offers opportunities for dermatologists and dermatologic surgeons to lead and influence legislative and regulatory policymaking that impacts dermatologists and their patients, as well as networking opportunities with dermatology colleagues. Members will receive:
• Quarterly Society communications on important happenings relevant to Nevada dermatology practices from the NSDDS President.
• Exclusive members-only access to educational content and information on the website (coming summer 2019)
• Listing on the “Find a Dermatologist” on the NSDDS website (coming summer 2019).
• Quarterly webinars at no additional cost (coming in 2020).
• Exclusive member-only discounts on educational programs, including the NSDDS Annual Meeting (coming in 2020).
Board-certified dermatologists and physicians with three years of dermatology experience pursuing board certification with the American Board of Dermatology, Royal College of Physicians or American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology are encouraged to join NSDDS in making an impact in the specialty’s representation in Nevada. Membership costs $195 annually and is exclusive to those residing in the United States or Canada.
NSDDS is delighted to provide complimentary membership to dermatology residents and medical students. Registered nurses, nurse practitioners, licensed practice nurses and physician assistants must include a letter from his/her supervising dermatology physician when applying for NSDDS membership ($145 annually). Individuals who work for a commercial firm that supplies products and/or services to the dermatology / dermatologic surgery market and who are not directly involved in patient care are eligible for an adjunct membership ($250 annually).
