The Head and Neck Cancer Care Center brings together clinical expertise, leading edge technology and compassion to treat patients throughout the Rocky Mountain region. The Swedish Head and Neck Cancer Care Center treats both common and rare cancers, including:
- Oral cavity tumors and oral cavity cancer
- Laryngeal cancer
- Pharyngeal (throat) cancer
- Thyroid cancer
- Parathyroid cancer
- Salivary gland tumors
- HPV-related cancers, including oropharyngeal cancer

As one of the region's most advanced centers, the Swedish Head and Neck Cancer Care Center offers comprehensive medical treatment along with leading surgical techniques:

“I look forward to leading the head and neck cancer program for Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Swedish Medical Center,” said Dr. Andrew Nemechek, the center’s medical director. “The program will ensure that patients do not have to travel far from home to get access to the latest treatment approaches and personalized therapy options.”
A New Specialty Physician Practice at HealthONE
Andrew Nemechek, MD, FACS, of The Head and Neck Surgical Specialty Group is a board-certified surgeon who specializes in treating otolaryngological tumors and cancers. He was one of the first physicians in the state of Colorado to perform advanced head and neck oncologic surgeries. As a principal investigator and key contributor to clinical research throughout his career, Dr. Nemechek is at the forefront of clinical care. Dr. Nemechek also has a strong interest in public health advocacy, raising awareness for prevention through vaccination and screenings, as well as helping those who are socioeconomically at-risk for these types of head and neck tumors, especially HPV-related malignancies.
“Increased awareness will go a long way in reducing incidences and improving outcomes for head and neck tumor care,” Dr. Nemechek said.
The Head and Neck Surgical Specialty Group, located on the Swedish Medical Center campus, will offer more targeted therapies to treat diseases and disorders of the head and neck, which will be tailored to each patient. In the field of otolaryngology, genetics now play a bigger role, allowing specialists to evaluate patients’ genetic information and use this as the basis for treatment.
Dr. Nemechek joins HealthONE from Colorado Head and Neck Specialists and was previously the medical director for the head and neck tumor program at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver. Dr. Nemechek earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed a combined research and clinical fellowship in advanced head and neck oncologic surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He also holds a Master of Science degree in healthcare delivery from the Tuck School of Business and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinic Practice.
The Head and Neck Surgical Specialty Group is accepting new patient referrals. Please contact the office at 303-788-9200 or visit www.headandneckspecialists.com.
