Local Artist Satirizes President Trump at Phoenix Comic Convention
Cartoonist Russ Kazmierczak, Jr. satirizes President Trump in his self-published minicomics, "Amazing Arizona Comics," on sale this coming weekend at Phoenix Fan Fusion.
Phoenix, AZ, May 22, 2019 --(PR.com)-- This weekend, Phoenix cartoonist will celebrate his ninth year self-publishing his minicomic book series "Amazing Arizona Comics," and recent issues satirize President Donald Trump.
Kazmierczak's comic features his original superheroes against a backdrop of real news stories, mostly related to Phoenix and Arizona. Because President Trump and former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio share June 14th as a birthday, many of Kazmierczak's latest stories feature the President.
"In my comic, Trump's hair is an alien from outer space," he explained. "It latched onto Trump sometime in the '80s. When you see what Trump does through the filter of an alien trying to blend in and subtly take over the world, everything kind of makes more sense."
Kazmierczak continues that concepts like President Trump's Space Force and his stance on immigration are all easily incorporated into his stories.
"Arizona has a great history of UFO sightings, and we're at the center of the immigration debate, so of course Trump is watching our state very closely," Kazmierczak quipped.
Kazmierczak has been self-publishing "Amazing Arizona Comics" since 2010 and has created 40 issues. They'll be on display and for sale at Phoenix Fan Fusion, a comic book convention at the Phoenix Convention Center from May 23-26, 2019.
