TFI Envision's VP is Guest Lecturer at Housatonic Community College
Bridgeport, CT, June 02, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Housatonic Community College (HCC) was the setting for a guest lecture led by Mary Ellen (“M.E.”) Butkus, VP and Sr. Art Director at TFI Envision, Inc., with thirty up and coming graphic designers on April 15, 2019.
The Monday morning “discussion” with second year graphic design students, connected visual thinking, and real life applications of designing with purpose – through introducing them to a “Creative Brief.”
Students were also introduced to the processes of analyzing competition, focus group testing, and of course, “budget.” “Using packaging design as an example, we discussed the many design form solutions for one product, and outlined a project’s flow, so students would be familiar with the path when they get into the workplace. I then challenged the students to a package redesign by quickly brainstorming together and sketching graphic concepts for a product in a white carton structure, that would hold ‘boxed water’.
"Discovering how these students communicate water in an appetizing, refreshing, and desirable way - in the unexpected package form led to concepts with flowing rivers, oceans, expressive watery type styles and simple outline illustrations of a clear plastic water bottle on the carton. I hope the students enjoyed the exercises as much as I did!” said M.E.
TFI Envision, Inc. hosted a senior design student intern from the HCC Graphic Design program for the Spring 2019 semester, and Elizabeth P. Ball, President of TFI Envision, Inc. sits on the Graphic Design Advisory Board at HCC.
