CANstruction to Benefit Operation Food Search
Nine St. Louis teams to build structures at Saint Louis Science Center using only canned goods.
St. Louis, MO, June 07, 2019 --(PR.com)-- CANstruction®, a design/build charity competition, will feature nine teams from St. Louis area architectural and engineering firms who will design and build structures entirely out of cans. The structures will be built around the theme “Pollinators” on Sat., June 22 from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Saint Louis Science Center located at 5050 Oakland Ave.
There is no fee to view the structures, which can be seen from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Sun., June 30, but donations of canned goods would be greatly appreciated. Hastings+Chivetta Architects is hosting the build, and all canned goods used to create the structures will be donated to Operation Food Search.
Awards are presented to teams based upon Structural Integrity, Best Use of Food Labels, Most Cans Used in Display, Best Original Design, Best Meal, and People’s Choice.
To vote for the People’s Choice award, guests can deposit pennies into the containers of their favorite structures between June 22 and June 29 with proceeds benefitting OFS. The theme is in conjunction with Pollinator week, celebrated June 17 through 23, which recognizes the importance of pollinators to ecosystem health and agriculture in the U.S.
