Abbey Curran was born with cerebral palsy (CP), which affects the muscles in her legs and the way she walks. Despite her impairment, she worked to follow her passion of participating in pageants and became Miss Iowa USA 2008. She is the first person with a disability to compete in the prestigious Miss USA competition. When she entered her first pageant, she received a lot of negative feedback due to her handicap. Regardless of what anyone said, she continued to believe in herself and pursue the path she wanted. Abbey will share experiences with living with CP throughout her childhood and during her pageant competitions and how she refused to let this health condition get in the way of accomplishing her dreams.
