In this second part of the two-part series, during the winter of 1943, whilst only hours away from reaping huge financial success from certain illicit and felonious activities, George Twyford is seized by an arcane branch of MI5 and forcibly made aware that he has been plotting against the interests of Great Britain and is being used in a Nazi plan to weaken the economy.
The charge is Treason Against the Realm and in wartime, the only penalty is death by hanging.
Wrecked mentally and ruined financially, the hangman's noose brings with it the traitor's taint that will destroy his family for generations.
His only chance for a stay of execution is to persuade the authorities that he is their one and only forlorn hope to secure all the forgeries before they are released into circulation and snare the leaders of the spy ring behind this subversion.
