"adappt-studio" Targets Older Phones in the Next Release of Its Open Source Mobile Healthcare Platform
adappt has added increased legacy support features to its Open Source mobile platform adappt-studio, used (amongst other things) for life saving applications, e.g. "World Malaria Report" and "World HIV Testing Services." This increases accessibility of the platform in more of the remote locations in the world, where connectivity can be unreliable and phones are older. This enables professionals to work more effectively for disease prevention, control and containment.
London, United Kingdom, July 04, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Whilst the focus on infographics and visualizations is key to information dissemination, problems have arisen with the ability of older handsets to handle these graphic-intensive approaches. The R&D team at adappt has been working hard to create modules to enable their apps to work on older handsets, as well as in areas with limited and patchy connectivity. The platform continues to support and extend the animated charts and complex interactive mapping that have been the mainstay of its presentation layer. Along with that, additional provision has been made for simplified lightweight graphics with pinch and zoom to access the finer details. Using appropriate compression and offline synchronization, this is a boost particularly for those working in rural areas.

With this in mind, we have spent over nine months creating custom lightweight modules which work offline, to support remote and rural health workers.”
The core focus has been to make these applications accessible on older devices. This is especially useful in developing countries, where healthcare challenges are significantly higher and access to technology is limited.
The next major platform release is scheduled for October 2019 in time for November, when traditionally many NGOs and health departments will release their annual updates.
