Toronto Start-Up LUCID Named 2019 Best Start-Up by Wallifornia MusicTech
Toronto, Canada, July 14, 2019 --(PR.com)-- LUCID won the 2019 Wallifornia MusicTech pitch competition at Music Festival Les Ardentes on July 4 in Belgium and was named 2019 Wallifornia best start-up.
Wallifornia is a MusicTech hub based in Belgium where startups, music professionals, investors, developers and hackers develop together the future of the music industry. Once a year, to kick-off the Music Festival Les Ardentes Wallifornia gathers 500+ attendees around keynotes, panels, pitch competitions, match making sessions, acceleration program, hackathon, demos, performances and parties. The festival is attended by 100,000 guests and the start-up with the best pitch is awarded.
“This win is huge for us. I think it demonstrates that what we are building has the potential to be very disruptive – and these experts at the heart of the music industry can see that. We worked with some music industry veterans to improve or pitch and we had access to some fantastic investors. We’re excited to take this trophy back to Canada and continue building on the relationships we started here in Liège,” says CEO Zachary McMahon, co-founder with CTO Aaron Labbé.
LUCID got the opportunity to attend Wallifornia through the Music Den, a startup incubator based in Ryerson University's Faculty of Communication and Design (FCAD). As the only music focused incubator in Canada, the Den offers unique resources, mentorship and community to entrepreneurs. LUCID is one of the first companies to complete the Den's new accelerator stream, in partnership with Universal Music Group, which helps Canadian startups expand their businesses internationally.
Next week, LUCID will be in Barcelona for the Sonar +D Startup Hub, a program for startups, investors, mentors and companies that focuses on business development and connection with strategic actors in the business world. LUCID was selected to attend, along with only 20 other startups, to benefit from a program of activities designed to boost their promotion, networking and funding opportunities.
