Blue Flag Mediterranean Week 2019
Metaxa Hospitality Group at the forefront of the “Blue Flag Mediterranean Week 2019,” cleaning of two beaches in Crete and one in Santorini.
Crete, Greece, July 19, 2019 --(PR.com)-- 100 volunteers - employees of Metaxa Hospitality Group, along with volunteers-guests of the Group's hotels, participated in the annual voluntary cleaning of the beach in front of the three hotels, in the first week of July.
In particular, the volunteer-employees and volunteers-guests of Creta Maris Beach Resort cleaned the awarded with the voluntary eco-label “Blue Flag” Kastri / Creta Maris beach by gathering a total of 48 bags of garbage, 46 of which contained algae, which was sent for composting. They also collected 83 cigarette butts, 27 straws, 17 bottle caps, 12 bottles of water / soft drinks, 19 pieces of bags, 3 pieces of fishing nets, 22 disposable cups and other garbage.
The volunteer-employees of Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & SPA proceeded with the cleaning of “Baxedes” beach, by gathering 20 bags of garbage with every kind of waste, while the volunteer-employees and volunteers-guests of Tui Magic Life Candia Maris cleaned the coastline of Ammoudara by collecting cigarette butts, straws, bottle caps and disposable cups.
This annual environmental action was organized in the context of the "Blue Flag Mediterranean Week 2019" that it is implemented by the international Blue Flags organization, while it is a part of the multi-level Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Program of the Metaxa Hospitality Group, which focuses on the provision of high-quality accommodation services with the lowest possible environmental footprint.
