Australian Wireless Development Firm Poised to Take on Global Markets
Melbourne, Australia, April 04, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Vololink is a new Australian wireless technology developer recognising the global need for enabling wireless technology, particularly in developing countries.
Founded in October 2006, Vololink is the brainchild of technical director Milan Prosenica and managing director Stephen Sampson.
“I had spent the previous twenty five years of my working life predominately in the wireless communications field,” said Prosenica.
It was with this experience that led Prosenica to begin development on the first of Vololink’s products, a Wireless Broadband Terminal (WBT), called the VoloFone™ VF100.
The VoloFone™ VF100 was launched in May 2007, at the 2007 CeBit Technology Fair in Sydney, Australia.
In the simplest terms a WBT takes a broadband wireless signal and converts it into a portable landline and broadband Internet connection. The VoloFone™ VF100 provides access to high speed Internet, email, SMS and telephone services where ever there is access to 3G services.
“We believe the VoloFone™ VF100 suits a large variety of uses,” says Prosenica. “Obviously it (the VoloFone™ VF100) is ideal for developing countries lacking the hardware and infrastructure needed for fixed line broadband services. Simply the larger reach of wireless and lower cost of deployment will mean many countries will rely on wireless communications. However our WBT is also suitable for developed countries such as Australia, where even with good fixed line coverage there are numerous areas that are not close to DSL enabled exchanges and cannot access a broadband connection,” he added.
Vololink next product release will be WFT with an integrated WiFi Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) access point.
Vololink’s intention is to be the first to market wireless broadband products that are not vendor or technology dependent, and suitable for global adoption by wireless broadband carriers.
Vololink has opened an office in Melbourne and is in talks with a number of telecommunications vendors in South East Asia and Africa. In the domestic market, Vololink will target market segments that ADSL carriers cannot reach.
