New York, NY, July 29, 2019 --(PR.com)-- "The Rhythm of the Night" is a song by the Italian Eurodance group Corona, released in late 1993. It reached #1 in Italy, #5 on the Eurochart Hot 100(1) and by the end of 1994, it was the longest-charting single on the Eurochart Hot 100. It peaked within the top-ten in a total of 14 countries: Australia, Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. In the United States, it reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was even featured on Grand Theft Auto V’s radio.
Billboard wrote about the song: "Recent No. 1 U.K./European hit... Thumping Italo disco beats support glossy faux-rave synths and a diva vocal that is forceful without being overly aggressive. A wildly, catchy and repetitive chorus already has begun to woo radio programmers in several major markets on import."(2)
In 2013, Vibe placed "The Rhythm of the Night" at #9 in their list of "Before EDM: 30 Dance Tracks from the '90s That Changed the Game."(3)
BuzzFeed listed the song at #2 in the "The 101 Greatest Dance Songs of the '90s" list in 2017. They wrote: "'The Rhythm of the Night' is not only a song, it's a lifestyle. It's a triumph. A feeling. Pure joy. This song will take you places!"(4)
The original song was written in 1993 by Francesco Bontempi, Annerley Emma Gordon, Giorgio Spagna, Pete Glenister and Mike Gaffey, and produced by Bontempi. [5] The vocals for this song were performed by Italian singer "Giovanna Bersola," better known by her stage name Jenny B, although she is not credited in the single and does not appear in the music video. [5] The woman who appears in the video is Brazilian-born singer Olga Souza. [6]
In 2016, Fedde Le Grand released a remix out on Ultra Records on his 2nd Album, "Something Real." Ultra Records also released it on the compilation "House Party" as the last of 40 tracks.
In 2019, Matt Falcone edited the Fedde Le Grand's version back together into its original format as originally produced by Corona. Falcone says, "Fedde Le Grande did an excellent remix, with his Daft Punk sounding vocoder voices, tropical synths, and future house synths... but, Grand stripped it down too much, leaving out some of the great elements that were found in the original song that made it so popular today." So, Falcone brought those elements back in from the original version & combined it together with the Fedde Le Grand remix, and the single was released by Universal Music Group. [7]
