Artplex Gallery is Excited to Welcome Canadian Artist Megan Ellen MacDonald
Bright colors and dreamy kitsch characters fill the artworks of Artplex Gallery's newest addition to their international roster of artists.
Los Angeles, CA, August 06, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Artplex Gallery is pleased to announce new partnership with emerging Canadian still life painter Megan Ellen MacDonald to a growing roster of international artists.
MacDonald is a Toronto based artist whose work explores themes of gender and power dynamics through the lens of genre painting. MacDonald graduated from OCADU in 2013 with a BFA in Drawing and Painting.
Megan Ellen MacDonald’s most recent series of oil paintings challenge existing aesthetic hierarchies in painting by creating a visual language out of things considered both diminutive and feminine. The still-life arrangements in these vibrant works depict intimate and destructive relationships between objects as an exploration of what it means to embrace femininity as agency.
Filled with lush fruits and electric colors, her work is heavily inspired by the kitsch aesthetic of both academic painting styles and contemporary pop culture. MacDonald’s work has been exhibited in Canada and the United States.
MacDonald’s work is on view during regular gallery hours.
