Best-Selling Thriller Novelist Steve Berry Lists World Golf Village Home for Sale
Steve Berry, author of 19 best-selling novels, is selling his home in World Golf Village.
St. Augustine, FL, August 07, 2019 --(PR.com)-- If there is anything best-selling author Steve Berry loves, it’s a blank page. In 2010, when he purchased his King & Bear home, now listed for sale by Davidson Realty agents Tim and Shelley Nemethy, that is exactly what Berry and his wife Elizabeth took on.
“The fact that it was essentially a blank page made it irresistible,” said Berry. “The entire house inside was white. Outside, it was entirely brown. I immediately saw the possibilities - that it could be transformed into something else entirely - and that’s what we did.”
The Berrys were also drawn to the home’s superb setting in the heart of the King & Bear, World Golf Village’s premier golf community. Said Berry, “It’s location was perfect, right on the first tee, right across from all of the community amenities.”
Writing a home’s story
While Berry spent the next nine years writing 10 New York Times best-selling books in his home office, the couple focused on customizing the Mediterranean style exterior and 6,000 square feet of interior.
Inspired by international travel and the author’s own work, the Berrys implemented personalized interior elements throughout the home. From custom woven bedroom carpet to subtle hand painted wall detail, no expense was spared. Many rooms also feature a theme centered on one of his 19 books.
The home’s crown jewel is the detached office where nine of Berry’s last 10 novels were written (he wrote one in the inner office during outer office renovations). The coffered ceiling features inlaid Templar crosses and marble flooring was brought in from Jerusalem.
“I do all my writing in the outer office, which was built just for me,” said Berry. “It’s a warm, quiet room where you can get a lot of work done.”
While Berry turned the blank space into his own creative retreat, he adds that much of it, like the rest of the home, is easily altered to a new owner’s tastes. “The great thing about the space is that it can also become someone else’s. Nothing there is indelible,” said Berry.
Much like Berry’s office, agent Shelley Nemethy says the entire home is a grand getaway. The interior features a chef’s kitchen, two fireplaces and master wing with custom designed closets and spacious luxury bathroom. The exterior boasts a brand new composite tile roof, deluxe outdoor kitchen and sweeping second floor balcony.

Berry now looks forward to finishing his most recent blank page, a new novel in the Cotton Malone series called “The Last Kingdom.” He aims for a spring 2021 release.
