Calling All Tampa Bay Area Scouts - Church of Scientology’s Troop 313 to Present Merit Badge Academy on September 28
Clearwater, FL, August 30, 2019 --(PR.com)-- On September 28 Boy Scout Troop 313, chartered by the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization, will host a Merit Badge Academy for troops from all across the Tampa Bay area at the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center. The Center is located on 133 N. Fort Harrison Avenue, Clearwater FL, 33755. Scouts can RSVP now to earn their Chemistry, Electronic, Personal Management, Finger Printing and Crime Prevention badges. The Personal Management and Citizenship in the Nation merit classes, which are requisites for the Eagle Scout ranking, will also be held on the 28th. There is a registration fee of $20, which includes the classes, as well as breakfast and lunch.
The Merit Badge classes will be separated in two periods, the first from 9AM-12PM, and the second from 1PM-4PM. Scouts can register for one or both periods.
As the founder of Boy Scouts, Sir William Baden-Powell, once said, “In scouting, a boy is encouraged to educate himself rather than be instructed.” Following that, Boy Scout merit badges give Scouts the opportunity to investigate over 100 areas of knowledge and skills. Troop 313 has many skilled badge councilors and want to share that with other troops.
“The Scout BSA program is really important to me”, said Michael Soltero, Director of the CCV Center. “I was a Scout myself and learned a lot about applying the Scout Law to my life. Being able to guide youth through their merit badges and adventures is an honor and a pleasure.”
First established in July 1996, Scout Troop 313 has progressed from meetings in a small room with 8 leaders and 8 Scouts, to 38 Scouts weekly active in a large room at the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center. Over the last 20 years, they have made a total of 31 Eagle Scouts; a rate of more than one a year.
Humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard, who himself was an Eagle Scout, summed it up with what he wrote, “Of all the information which became important to me, such as photography, woodlore, signaling, and many other subjects, the basics of it was laid in Scouting.”
To register for the Merit Badge Academy please contact Michael at the CCV Center at (727) 316-5309 or email ccvcenter@ccvfl.org. You can also register at www.link.com (note the registration page will be up in a couple days).
