San Gorgonio High School Student Raises Funds for Pediatric Cancer

Announcement of a fundraiser for Pediatric Cancer hosted by Senior High School Student from San Gorgonio High School in San Bernardino

Redlands, CA, September 10, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Kristen's Kisses is raising funds to benefit pediatric cancer patients.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Pediatric cancer deaths rank second among children ages one to 14, according to the American Cancer Society. “In 2019, an estimated 11,060 children in this age group will be diagnosed with cancer and 1,190 will die from it.” (American Cancer Society: www.cancer.org/latest-news/facts-and-figures-2019.html) With these kinds of statistics it is important that people rise to the challenge to help the fight against pediatric cancer. One young lady has done just that.

When she was just 12 years old, Elizabeth Merriam decided that someone needed to stand up for the children fighting this disease and do something to impact their lives. With the help of her family, Kristen’s Kisses was born. Since then, she has raised funds and donated over 500 stuffed giraffes across the Nation to states including California, Utah, Nevada, New York, and Alabama. Now a Senior at San Gorgonio High School, Elizabeth has collected 300 boxes of crayons and is currently in the process of raising funds to put together a special coloring book designed specifically for children suffering with the disease.

Elizabeth and her family have designed an event she calls Quartermania to help her reach her goal of developing the coloring books. Quartermania takes place Friday, September 13, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at 140 Pioneer Blvd., Redlands, CA in the Clubhouse. Attendance is $10 per person and includes your bidding paddle. Participants bid on items donated by participating vendors using their quarters. There will also be an opportunity drawing for those interested in participating and a baked potato bar for purchase.

Participants can expect an evening of innovative bidding fun as they help raise funds to put a smile on some children’s faces. If you are unable to attend but would like to donate you can do so via PayPal at crazykfm@netzero.com. For more information, please contact Kim Merriam at crazykfm@netzero.com.
