World Tourism Day 2020 Theme and Hosts Announced by ECTT President Anton Caragea
The official celebrations of World Tourism Day 2020 will be held in Djibouti and Addis Ababa, as decided by the European Council on Tourism and Trade Executive Board. The event will be structured around a high-level think tank with the aim of opening the debate on the potential of the sector to enhance global cooperation based on tourism and fostering mutual understanding.
Brussels, Belgium, September 21, 2019 --(PR.com)-- World Tourism Day 2020 celebrations, held on 27 September, will be focused on Tourism: Building Peace! Fostering Knowledge! stated European Council on Tourism and Trade (ECTT) marking also the fact that: the Day will be dedicated to exploring the contribution of tourism to fostering peace and bringing nations together.
World Tourism Day has been celebrated globally on September 27, and European Council on Tourism and Trade decided to mark the event with themes like: Culture, History, Sustainable Development Goals, World Heritage have been some of the topics tackled on the previous editions of World Tourism Day at ECTT.
“By 2030, the number of travelers world-wide will surpass 1.8 billion. The question, as we celebrate World Tourism Day 2020, is to enable this powerful force, these opportunities for people to people exchanges, to contribute to make this world a safer place and to advance cooperation and peace. On 2020 World Tourism Day, you must respect people, respect culture and respect your host,” said ECTT President Professor Dr. Anton Caragea.

Djibouti and Addis Ababa have being previously selected by the global tourism community as World Capital of Culture and Tourism and Ethiopia was also elected as World's Best Tourist Destination in 2015 garnering an experience that must be shared for the benefit of tourism industry world-wide.
Together with the events conducted in Djibouti and Addis Ababa, the World Tourism Day 2020 at European Council on Tourism and Trade will be celebrated across the globe. European Tourism Academy and European Council on Tourism and Trade call upon the tourism community, private sector, governments and civil society, to join the celebrations and share them for World Tourism Day 2020.
