Digital Magazine Moxie Asia Features Skin, Art & Culture: Norm Yip Launches Online Male Magazine in Hong Kong
Photographer and visual artist Norm Yip announces the release of his first online magazine MOXIE ASIA in Hong Kong, an online publication featuring superb fine art photography of Asian and exotic men. Articles include interviews with creatives such as visual artists, fashion stylists, photographers, composers and multi-talented individuals in the region and abroad.
Hong Kong, Hong Kong S.A.R., September 23, 2019 --(PR.com)-- The decision for Norm Yip to create a magazine devoted to his interests was born from the lack of avenues in which to present his other skills as a creative in publishing, art and literature.
Norm explains, "I was seeking a way to pull all of my creative energies into a unified collection - a zine of sorts, but is presented in a visually enticing way. I have interests to showcase not only photography but paintings, drawings, and creative writing to my audience. MOXIE is not a singular artists' vision and I have invited other creatives to contribute artwork or writings that follow along with the ideas that are presented in my existing editions."
The word moxie is drawn from the desire to use an X and O. Graphically strong, a person who has moxie is one that characterises individualism, silent courage, and self-assured attitude. This exemplifies the men he meets and photographs for his male nudes. It also reflects the many individuals that forge their creative path with passion and drive.
As a result, Norm has included in MOXIE interviews with creatives in the industry, including artists, photographers, composers and multi-talented individuals in the region and abroad. In the latest edition of MOXIE 03, he photographs JYB, a transgender male from Bangkok, and interviews Vietnamese composer An Tôn Thất, responsible for numerous movies scores including Ash Mayfair's award-winning The Third Wife. Tristan Peter from Brisbane is a contributing photographer and writer and filmmaker Edward Gunawan contributes an enticing short story Stranger in a Suit.
On the platform, Norm explains, "I chose a digital format that was easy to view in the privacy of your smartphone, iPad/tablet or desktop. Although print has been my ideal and preferred way to showcase my photography, I wanted to address the new generation of readers and go with digital content." MOXIE ASIA now uses two digital distribution platforms, one being Issuu and the other Zeero-s.
MOXIE ASIA is still in its early stages and aims to publish on a bi-monthly basis. Issues are on sale for US$12.99 and can be purchased through the website http://moxie.asia.
