Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles Receives $25,000 from Fender Play Foundation to Launch Music Program
Funds support musical instruments and instruction for 200 South Los Angeles youth.
Los Angeles, CA, September 26, 2019 --(PR.com)-- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles announced the award of a $25,000 grant from the Fender Play Foundation to launch a new music program at their Watts-Willowbrook Clubhouse that will support 200 students.
The contribution will help 200 local youth learn to play music with expert a newly remodeled and interactive space, instructors and high-quality instruments including Squier® guitars and basses, Rumble™ and Champion amplifiers, earphones, Fender Play® e-learning stations for the Clubs’ youth to learn how to play guitar, ukulele and bass.
“This donation is greatly appreciated and will allow our youth to learn new skills. Musical education enhances student achievement and can foster team building skills. We are confident that these new resources will help our students succeed in the classroom and in life,” said Calvin Lyons, President and CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles.
"We are excited to launch this program with the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Los Angeles, Watts-Willowbrook to equip local youth with tools that encourage artistic self-expression,” said Christina Stejskal, President of the Fender Play Foundation. “The mission of the Fender Play Foundation is to equip, educate and inspire the next generation of young players. Our hope is that this newly-remodeled jam room equipped with new gear and Fender Play subscriptions will do just that - inspiring creativity and a life-long appreciation of music.”
