Tucson Indie Filmmakers' Film and Screenplay Invited to Compete at Show Low International Film Festival
Tucson, AZ, October 16, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Dancing Sticks Productions proudly announces that two projects by its principals, Douglas Harms and Joe D’Leon, have been selected to be part of the 2019 Show Low International Film Festival (www.showlowfilmfestival.com) taking place in Pinetop, AZ, October 17-20, 2019. One project is a dramatic short film entitled “Still Hunt” and the second is a sci-fi action screenplay, “A Trespasser on Rancho Rivera.”

“Still Hunt” tells the story of an annual deer hunting trip that takes a dangerous turn as a lovelorn divorced man discovers he may have been betrayed by one of his best friends. The film was created, produced and shot in Tucson using Tucson-based actors and crew. Director Douglas Harms co-wrote the screenplay with Joe D’Leon. Lead roles were portrayed by Benny Lee Kennedy (“Tombstone-Rashomon”), Eric Schumacher (“Tombstone-Rashomon” & “Legends and Lies: The Real West,” and Scott Martin Thomas (“Stardust and the Bandit”). The 23-minute film was shot in only four days utilizing 5 locations. In addition to being selected for the Show Low Film Festival, “Still Hunt” has enjoyed participating in the Arizona International Film Festival (April 2018), Las Cruces International Film Festival (March 2018), Austin Short Film Fest (December 2017), Studio City International Film Festival (November 2017), and Marina del Rey Film Festival (October 2017). In the Harms/D'Leon screenplay, "A Trespasser on Rancho Rivera,” plans for a weekend of off-roading on a family ranch become a struggle of life and death when a young woman and her girlfriends encounter a mysterious trespasser. In addition to being nominated for Best Script at the Show Low Film Festival, the script has already garnered recognition at the LA Underground Film Forum (Winner Best Short Screenplay. August 2019), Fantasy Sci-Fi Film & Screenplay Festival (Winner Short Sci-Fi Screenplay. August 2019), Hollywood Just4Shorts Short Film & Screenplay Competition (Best Action Screenplay. July 2019), Filmmatic Short Screenplay Awards (Finalist. August 2019), and Underground Indie Film Festival (June 2019).

Douglas is an alum from both the theatre department at Arizona State University and the University of Arizona media arts program.
