Former National Van Lines President Robert S. Seeler (1935-2019)
Broadview, IL, October 19, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Former National Van Lines President Robert S. Seeler—and a key NVL adviser in later years, died Oct. 12. He was 84.
Mr. Seeler began serving on the NVL Board of Directors at current CEO & Chairman Maureen Beal’s request shortly after he retired from a competing van line in the mid-1990s. He was NVL President during 1985–1986.
“(Bob) told me to count my successes and not my failures," Maureen once told Crain’s Chicago Business. “I've lived by that ever since. It helps me shrug off the disappointments in this job and stay positive.”
“Bob was a great supporter of National Van Lines,” Maureen said this week. “He provided indispensable advice, plus sound business direction. He also was a great friend. We’ll all miss him.”
Mr. Seeler was born June 19, 1935 in Chicago, the son of the late Ferd and Helen Seeler. He’s survived by his wife, Charmaine Seeler of Sugar Grove; his daughter, Kathy Banks; his grandchildren, Joe (Kate) Seeler, Mike (Melissa) Seeler, Rachel Seeler and Sarah Banks; his sister, Carole (Lance) Gauler; and many other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert J. Seeler, and his brother, Joseph Seeler.
Visitation is 1 p.m.–4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19 at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Drive, Sugar Grove, IL 60554. Interment and memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the American Cancer Society. For information, call 630.466.1330.
