Rishi Pledges to Refuse PAC and Special Interest Group Money
San Jose, CA, October 25, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Democratic Candidate for United States Congress CA-18 Rishi Kumar* issued the following statement regarding PAC and Special Interest Group money in elections, emphasizing that his campaign will not be accepting such campaign contributions
“I am glad to be one of a handful of candidates running for Congress who refuse PAC, and Special interest money. I will fight for the issues important to our families and our neighbors, not the special interest groups with agendas that do not align with the people agenda. We need to ensure any candidate who runs for office remains beholden to the people they serve, not special interest groups. We must eliminate the loopholes that allow millions of dollars into campaigns and sway elections. We need to level the playing field for the citizen-centric policies that our country desperately needs.
“It is heartening to see New Mexico’s Sen. Tom Udall unveil a constitutional amendment that would bring an end to the 2010 Citizens United Supreme Court. This new amendment would grant Congress and the states the power to limit political spending on campaigns. There is no argument, we need to overturn Citizens United today! Our democracy is undermined by the ability of special interests who buy politicians and elections by spending hundreds of millions of dollars in support of the candidates of their choice.
“We can't change a corrupt system by taking its money.
“I am the only Congressional candidate in this race (CD 18) to take the pledge to refuse PACs and special interest group donations. This is because as an elected leader, I believe in making fearless citizen-centric choices to address the top challenges of my community. As an elected leader, I challenged an investor-owned water utility company and am still pushing back on their rampant rate increases. My efforts have been successful. “I will be #UnBought and #UnBossed, squarely there for the people, serving diligently with citizen-centric behavior, not at the behest of Washington lobbyists. You can view my priorities for Congress at www.RishiKumar.com/priorities.
“Will you commit to eliminating Citizen’s United? Please provide your feedback https://rishikumar.com/survey.”
