Mid-Western Region, Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Holds 2019 Illinois Area Workday Cluster
Mid-Western Region, Jack and Jill of America, Inc. holds annual fall workday cluster and supports mental health awareness in Chicago, Illinois.
Chicago, IL, October 25, 2019 --(PR.com)-- The Mid-Western Region, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., an organization of mothers who are raising the next generation of African American leaders, while improving the lives of all children, announced the beginning of its Mid-Western Region Fall Area Workday Clusters. The Illinois/Tri-state Area Fall Area Workday Cluster, to be held at the Hyatt Regency Schaumburg Chicago, Schaumburg, IL, is the first of two annual fall events hosted across the region, with a over 600 attendees. The region will host more than 350 families in the Chicago area. including mother members, fathers and teenagers representing chapters and provisional groups across Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin, for workshops focused on community service, leadership, diverse programming, and legislative advocacy.
As part of the weekend’s activities, the Mid-Western Region will also support a local service initiative that meets the mission of the national organization. This year’s community service donation will benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Chicago. The organization provides classes to individuals living with a mental illness, family members, and professionals. Donations received cover the cost of materials for recovery-focused and family education programs offered free of charge. Over the last few years, the conversation about mental health has shifted in the city, supported by ongoing important discussions around mental health and trauma support, advanced training, and stigma reduction for mental health. NAMI Chicago and its partners, those with lived experience, providers, and advocates, have produced a Roadmap to Wellness, laying out their vision for a vibrant, well city.

The Mid-Western Region, Jack and Jill of America, Inc. includes 38 chapters within the states of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin, and St. Louis, Missouri. Founded in 1938, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., is a membership organization of mothers with children ages 2 – 19, dedicated to nurturing future African American leaders by strengthening children through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving and civic duty. Through its more than 240 chapters organized in seven regions across the United States, representing more than 40,000 family members which includes, mother members, fathers and children ages two through 19.
