Marlborough Ranks Among Top 17% of the Best Small U.S. Cities
Marlborough ranks 27th in education and health, in the 83rd percentile overall among 1,200 cities.
Marlborough, MA, November 01, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Personal finance website WalletHub has ranked Marlborough among the top 17% of the Best Small Cities in America in 2019. The city was also ranked 27th overall in “Education and Health” out of more than 1,200 communities.
This year’s ranking is a 3 percentile points jump for Marlborough, which ranked in the top 20 percent of America’s Best Small Cities in 2018. In 2019, the city also rose 24 spots in the “Education and Health” category.
In the study released yesterday, WalletHub compared 1,268 U.S. cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 based on 42 key indicators of livability, ranging from housing costs to school-system quality to restaurants per capita. Marlborough received a total score of 64.22, landing in the 83rd percentile of the Best Small Cities in America.
“A rise in these rankings is a testament to the continuing successes of our city and the hard work that has gone into achieving them,” said Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Executive Director, Meredith Harris. “We have been focusing much of our attention on attracting more unique amenities, introducing better transportation options and improving the reputation of our schools, which, as WalletHub’s ranking confirms, are among the absolute best in the country. All this is helping more people choose our city as a place to live, work and play, and we couldn’t be happier to see that.”
The ranking comes just a month after MEDC celebrated another year of economic successes at its annual Founders Reception. The city has been enjoying an unemployment rate of just 2.5% for the past three months on record, along with a continued decline in both the office and overall commercial vacancy rates, which sat at 14% and 9% respectively at the start of 2019.
