River Tree Arts Competitive Dance Fundraiser
Kennebunk, ME, November 01, 2019 --(PR.com)-- River Tree Arts (RTA) is holding a silent auction and exhibition fundraiser on Friday, November 15 at the Kennebunk Town Hall to benefit their Competitive Dance Team. The event takes place from 6-7:30pm. Admission is $5 for adults, free for children and volunteers. It is open to the public and RTA welcomes the community to join us for this festive evening. Along with the silent auction there are a number of raffle items and a short exhibition routine performed at 7pm. There will be performances by each of the competitive groups in the following dance styles: Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Irish Step.
Many local businesses generously donated items for the auction and raffle. RTA families provide light refreshments which is included in the admission price. Colby Nathan of Laughable Recordings is scheduled to keep the music flowing for the evening.
Angela Russell is one of two dance teachers who run the program, "When we started the program in 2012 we had 40 students. Today we have over 100 students with 29 competitive dancers. It is exciting to see the love of dance growing in our community."
Dolly Nguyen who also teaches and is the force behind the initial exhibition fundraiser says, “Last year, our fundraiser was almost snowed out. However, the community rallied their support and we raised enough money to cover the fees for one competition routine for each dancer. Additional funds were applied to 2019 convention fees. I would love to see even more support for our students this year.”
Early in 2019, the competitive dancers traveled to Boston for a dance convention. Dance conventions expose our students to new dance instructors, professional dancers, opportunities to meet peers from across the country, and of course, the chance to learn new techniques and hone their skills. The attendees are fully immersed in dance during the conventions and return to RTA with a renewed sense of pride and determination for the remainder of their competitive dance season.
