Nashville Joins VH1’S Celebrity Fit Club Judge in Free Fitness Event: Nashville’s Get Fit Day

Nashville, TN, April 09, 2008 --(PR.com)-- State Farm and VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club judge, Dr. Ian Smith will host Nashville’s Get Fit Day, free of charge, Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Tennessee State University’s Kean Hall from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Nashville’s Get Fit Day is a program partnering with the 50 Million Pound Challenge, a national healthcare initiative organized by Smith, targeting obesity, hypertension and other health issues caused by massive weight gain. The goal of the 50 Million Pound Challenge is to motivate 50 million Americans to lose weight…and its next stop is Nashville at the city’s Get Fit Day.

Nashville’s Get Fit Day will feature musical concerts, health screenings, cooking demonstrations and aerobic classes lead by some of Nashville’s top fitness instructors. All events are open to the entire family.

Along with Smith, invites attendees include Governor Phil Bredesen, former Tennessee Titan Eddie George, NFL quarterback Steve McNair, former Tennessee Titans Chris Sanders, Councilman Jerry Maynard, Miss Black Tennessee Kristen Herring, former Vice Mayor Howard Gentry, Tennessee State University President, Melvin Johnson, State Representative Brenda Gilmore, State Representative Thelma Harper, LoveNoise Music Group and a host of other dignitaries, guests and vendors.
