Be Smart and Safe if You Hang Your Own Christmas Lights: Experts from Christmas Lights by Go-Forth Offer Safety Checklist
Everyone loves gazing at Christmas Lights this time of year. And for many families, the hanging of the lights is a cherished tradition. But hanging them yourself can be frustrating and even dangerous if the right precautions aren’t taken.
High Point, NC, November 20, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Everyone loves gazing at Christmas Lights this time of year. And for many families, the hanging of the lights is a cherished tradition. But hanging them yourself can be frustrating and even dangerous if the right precautions aren’t taken. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, there are thousands of injuries every year resulting from holiday decorating.
The Christmas Light Installation Experts at Christmas Lights by Go-Forth have provided some tips for staying safe when installing your own Christmas lights:
Always take the time to look for and read all safety warnings and installation instructions. Not only will this help prevent injury, but it will also educate you on how many strands you can connect together. You don’t want to get too far along in the decorating process to only have to start over.
Be sure to use ladders properly. Ensure both feet are on level ground and always have a spotter (second person on the ground) hold the bottom securely. You should never use a ladder when you are alone. Be sure that the ladder can hold both your weight and the weight of the decorations you’re carrying.
If possible, use LED bulbs - they are much cooler than incandescent bulbs (and they use less energy - saving you money as well).
Fasten lights securely to avoid them being damaged by the wind or potentially falling on property below. You also don’t want them dangling free for children to grab.
Avoid any roof work during snow, ice or rain.
Make sure to have the appropriate electrical supply you need for your project. If you are unsure, a qualified electrician can assist you.
Ben Keifer, manager of the Christmas Lights division at Go-Forth says, “As a professional Christmas Lights installation company, we have made large financial investments in safety equipment, ladders, lighting products and training courses to ensure our team has all the tools they need to do the best job, in the safest way. We hope that individuals who hang their own lights will make this same investment in their own safety. The most beautiful light display in the world isn’t worth a single injury.”
