Kay Rios, Writer for Northern Colorado Business Report, Has Written an Article About Pawfriendly Landscapes, Which Will be Released on April 11, 2008
Ft. Collins, CO, April 10, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Kay Rios, writer for Northern Colorado Business Report, has written an article about Elizabeth Bublitz' company, Pawfriendly Landscapes, which will be released on April 11, 2008. Ms. Rios attended a lecture about creating pet friendly yards at Fort Collins Nursery in January and contacted Bublitz for an interview about her company.
The article discusses many concerns pet owners have when creating a yard. Bublitz discusses creating bathroom areas for dogs so homeowners are not fighting urine burned plants. Bublitz explains, "There are so many myths about making urine less potent, some people believe putting a penny in their drinking water will do the trick or feeding them a certain diet. Perhaps the diet will help a little, but all and all, a doggie bathroom must be created and it cannot be made of plant material. Artificial turf helps or rock or wood mulch if the dog does not eat either one of them." Bublitz adds, "I prefer wood mulch for the bathroom area since it neutralizes the odor but there's a lot of upkeep, homeowners have to replenish it every couple years." Other solutions are discussed, such as the "fire hydrant" solution. Bublitz uses this in many of her client's gardens, she explains, "We simply tear out the plant that the dog keeps lifting his leg on and replace it with a container or statue. Some very pretty yet not alive."
Bublitz created Pawfriendly Landscapes in 1998 (formerly known as Home & Garden Landscapes) and just released her first book, "Pawfriendly Landscapes - How to Share the Turf When Your Backyard Belongs to Barney." It is available at Barnes & Noble, Borders, Amazon.com and on her website www.pawfriendlylandscapes.com. Pawfriendly Landscapes also sells landscape designs nationwide and can be purchased on their website.
