DAVACO Participates in Fashion Group International's 2008 Dallas Career Day; Retail Services Company Supports Students with Merchandising Competition, Workshop and Career
Dallas, TX, April 11, 2008 --(PR.com)-- DAVACO, Inc., the national leading provider of retail services, announced today that the company is participating in the annual FGI Career Day 2008 Style Symposium, which will be held on April 11, 2008, at the Dallas World Trade Center. Fashion Group International’s Dallas Career Day is the largest and longest-running event of its kind in the country, with over 1,100 students and faculty members from 40 colleges and universities across 14 states.
This year, DAVACO will once again sponsor the Excellence in Merchandising Competition, as well as participate in the career resources exhibition, which offers students the opportunity to discuss career opportunities with a variety of retailers, brand manufacturers and retail service providers. In addition, Sheryl Koehn, vice president of brand development, will present a workshop on “Retail Merchandising: How Big Brands Maximize their Presence and Profitability at Retail.” Koehn, who oversees DAVACO’s retail coordinator coverage programs, large-scale merchandising/graphic projects and vendor shop services, will provide students an open forum to better understand visual merchandising, why it’s important to the brand and how they can make a career of it.
“As the leading provider of retail services, we are so pleased to contribute to this important one day event,” said Shelly Vandeven, senior vice president of marketing. “DAVACO has so much to offer in terms of educating and providing real-life experience for these future leaders in fashion, merchandising and retail. We are so pleased that Sheryl can share her years of retail expertise, and we’re obviously thrilled to have the opportunity to co-fund scholarships for three deserving students to support their continued educational endeavors.”
The second annual Excellence in Merchandising Competition is open to all students participating in the FGI Dallas Career Day. It is co-sponsored by DAVACO and the Dallas chapter of Fashion Group International and is designed to recognize outstanding performance by students in merchandising, marketing, branding and promotion at the retail level. The winners, which will receive scholarships in the amount of $1,000 for first place; $750 for second place; and $250 for third place, will be announced at the event.
