Independent Filmmaker Launches Online Britney Spears Comedy Video Campaign to Save Mother's Subprime House

Independent filmmaker Jeremy Saville uses his latest comedy short, "The Britney Mouse Club," as a fundraising vehicle to help save his mother's subprime house from foreclosure.

San Diego, CA, April 13, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Independent filmmaker Jeremy Saville is pairing two cultural phenomena: the meltdown of both Britney Spears and the nation’s mortgage markets to save his mother’s house from being foreclosed upon.

Saville, an award-winning filmmaker, actor and comedian who runs CinemaSaville.com, has launched an online campaign to generate enough funds to keep his mother, a San Diego, Calif. resident, from losing her home, which she purchased with a subprime loan. In the campaign, viewers go to a Web-based, password-protected site, where they pay $1.33 to view Saville’s latest high-definition comedy short, “The Britney Mouse Club.” Ninety-nine cents of the $1.33 fee is earmarked for his mother’s house fund; the remaining .34 cents covers the PayPal transaction fee.

“The Britney Mouse Club” is an eight-minute short film, which portrays a fictionalized, PG exchange between Mickey Mouse and a down-on-her-luck Britney Spears. A trailer of the film can be viewed on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF1tbt62WoY.

Saville got the idea to launch the “Watch the Mouse to Save the House” campaign during the recent media frenzy surrounding Spears’ emotional breakdown. He thought if he could tap into the public’s fascination with Spears, who was in danger of losing her children, he could help generate enough funds to assist his 74-year-old mother, who is in danger of losing her home. The California filmmaker calculated that he had a decent chance of being successful, given that one of his other shorts, “Switch,” has received over 1.2 million hits on one Web site alone.

“I know that times are tough for a lot of Americans right now, but I thought that if people would be willing to pay less than a dollar to see a hilarious movie that they won’t be able to see anywhere else, then my Mom has got a shot at not becoming another subprime casualty,” Saville said. “Let’s face it, with the war, the mortgage crisis and gas prices, most people could use a laugh right now.”
