Fox Valley Nonprofit Applies for Academic Enrichment Grant to Inspire Wisconsin Youth and Young Adults Towards Cyber Careers
Milwaukee, WI, April 19, 2019 --(PR.com)-- The Cyber Institute, an Appleton, Wisconsin based nonprofit, has partnered with the National Cybersecurity Student Association and National Cyber League to develop programs that will raise awareness among youth and young adults, about the growing field of cybersecurity. There is a projected global shortage of three million cybersecurity professionals by 2021. Taylor Rodriguez Vance said, “We hope to help youth, particularly girls and minorities, explore education and career opportunities in cybersecurity.” She believes their partnered organizations will be able to together better pursue the McCarthey Dressman Education Foundation’s “Academic Enrichment Grant” that will benefit the community and schools alike.
Gustavo Hinojosa, Executive Director of the National Cybersecurity Student Association in Milwaukee, Wisconsin said, “I have been happy to work with the Cyber Institute in the past and serve on their Advisory Board. So, I am excited for the potential to develop programs that will encourage our Wisconsin students explore Cyber and STEM careers and activities.” If the grant is awarded to the Cyber Institute, the nonprofit hopes to implement the group’s programs by summer of 2020.
