Sung-Joo Kim Inducted Into the Enterprising Women Hall of Fame
Raleigh, NC, April 19, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Monica Smiley, publisher and CEO of Enterprising Women magazine (www.enterprisingwomen.com), has announced that Sung-Joo Kim, founder of Sungjoo Group, has been inducted into the Enterprising Women Hall of Fame. Established in 2002, members of the Hall of Fame have demonstrated a lifetime of remarkable achievements, including building a business that has achieved a high measure of success or establishing a significant nonprofit organization and giving back to the women’s business community over many years. Kim was recognized during the 2008 Enterprising Women of the Year Awards, Feb. 28-March 1 at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Lake Buena Vista, FL.
Sung-Joo Kim, founder of Sungjoo Group, has been involved in the fashion industry for more than 20 years and currently operates more than 100 high-fashion retail stores in South Korea and around the world. The Sungjoo Group includes Sungjoo International, Sungjoo Merchandising Inc. and Sungjoo Design Tech and Distribution. She is also chairperson of the MCM Group, a high-end luxury, luggage and handbag business. Gross annual sales of the group in 2007 exceeded $200 million.
Kim received her masters degree in business ethics and economics from Harvard University and also studied at the London School of Economics and Yonsei University in Korea. She has been named one of the seven most powerful women in Asia by Asiaweek, one of the Top 50 Women to Watch by the Wall Street Journal, and gives back to other women in business, mentoring and inspiring women in her native South Korea and around the world.
